Cosmetic Choice was envisioned as a new-age beauty platform where users could shop for cosmetics, get expert guidance, receive personalized product recommendations, and book specialized treatments tailored to their unique needs. Seeing the gap between standard e-commerce and truly personalized beauty experiences, the founders set out to create an ecosystem that blends shopping, expert advisory services, and professional treatment bookings into one seamless experience. I joined during the concept validation phase, focusing on designing a digital journey that helps customers make smarter beauty decisions — grounded in science, guided by experts, and strengthened by community trust.

We used an iterative UX design process focused on three pillars: 1. Personalized User Journeys (based on skin type, concerns, and goals) 2. Simplified Consultation and Booking Flows 3. Strong Community-Trust Signals (verified reviews, expert bios, safety certifications)
By staying close to user needs through continuous research, testing, and refinement, we built a platform that is not just beautiful but deeply functional, clinically credible, and user-centered.
Crafting a Personalized Beauty Ecosystem
We applied a classic Design Thinking process tailored to the beauty and wellness domain.
Empathize Conducted user interviews with beauty shoppers, dermatology patients, and aestheticians. Identified core frustrations: overwhelming product choices, distrust in online reviews, confusing treatment options. Define Formulated personas around Skincare Seekers, Beauty Enthusiasts, and Treatment Explorers. Defined problem statements focusing on ease, trust, and guidance. Ideate Brainstormed solution ideas including skin quizzes, expert video consultations, and treatment locators. Mapped end-to-end user journeys. Prototype Developed low to high-fidelity wireframes covering homepage, consultation booking, product recommendations, and clinic profiles. Created modular design systems for reusability. Test Conducted usability tests with 20 users across three persona groups. Captured insights on navigation, trust signals, and feature desirability. Refine Integrated expert profiles, AI-driven personalized recommendations, and verified review badges based on testing feedback. Streamlined the booking process to three simple steps.
